WALKING WITH A GOAT

Walking with a goat  is a carol singing where participants walk along the village with a goat puppet. This tradition was practiced in the past in the Lublin region during the Christmas time.

In the Lublin Open Air Village Museum we will try to recall this custom.

 

Programme of the event:

11.00 a.m. – 11.50 a.m.

Learning traditional Christmas carols (once performed by singing groups) for the farmer and his wife, as well as for young ladies.

The number of places for this part of the event is limited, prior registration is required (lukasz.tarkowski@skansen.lublin.pl). Song lessons will take place at the school from Bobrowniki (Town sector).

12.00 a.m.- 12.30 a.m.

Carol singing in the village. Singers will walk with the goat puppet from the cottage to the cottage visiting farmers.

We invite everyone to accompany the singing group. There will be also a great possibility to take a closer look at the caroling tradition and to listen to Christmas carols as well as orations. The beggining of the carol singing – the shrine from Kolanówka (Lublin Upland sector).

Carol singing will be led by a traditional music group called “Płanetnicy”:

Patryk Dziubek, Piotr Dziwura, Bartosz Gajdzik and Łukasz Tarkowski.
