Midsummer’s Eve

You all are invited this Friday, 23th of June, for Midsummer’s Eve, also known as St.John Eve  (in polish folk tradition: Sobótka) – an educational event featuring ritual ensemble from Hańsk and popular folk band Drewutnia.

Our Guests will have an opportunity to watch presentation of traditional customs relating to Sobótka: songs, plaiting of garlands, speeches about symbolism of water and fire, herbs and medical lore.

There will be also place for knowledge what water and fire mean in our traditional beliefs and for  legends about the miraculous fern flower. It will also be a great opportunity to make yourself a garland  and to learn and sing  traditional Saturday songs. The youngest participants will be invited to make some  art work and to try their hand at the fern flower search competition. The event will be completed  by the performance of the ritual ensemble from Hańsk, with the ceremonial spectacle “St. John’s Eve” (another traditional name for Midsummer’s Eve).
