The 4th Lublin Voivodenship Easter Palm and Easter Egg Contest

We gently would like to  invite you to take part in The 4th Lublin Voivodenship Easter Palm and Easter Egg Contest. The aim of the competition is to save the typical forms of regional art from oblivion and also to return to the Easter traditions.

Any resident of Lublin Voivodeship is invented to take part in competition. Works have to be previously qualified by the local commune office or a cultural institution designated by the local government. We especially encourage folk artists, craftsmen, members of the Rural Women’s Circles, as well as schoolchildren.

Competition has four categories:

  1. Easter egg made by TRADITIONAL technique
  2. Easter egg made by CONTEMPORARY technique

III. Easter palm made using TRADITIONAL technique

  1. Easter palm made using CONTEMPORARY technique

In each of the above-mentioned competition categories, winners will be selected in 3 subcategories:

  1. a) children and adolescents under 15 years of age
  2. b) adults and youth from 15 years of age
  3. c) collective work

Traditional Easter eggs must be made in accordance with traditional techniques and old patterns characteristic for Lublin region and subregions. Modern Easter eggs must look similarly to life-size eggs (e.g. chicken, goose or ostrich eggs). Materials and manufacturing techniques are free. Both traditional and modern palm trees cannot exceed a height of one meter. Traditional palms must be made only from natural materials.

 

 

 

 

Works have to be submitted by the relevant district offices (from the Lublin Voivodeship) between 13-17th of March, 2023, from 8.30 AM till 3:00 PM along with correctly completed application forms, by post, or personally to the following placesd0: WOK Office, Center for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin, Plac Teatralny 1, 20-029 Lublin.

The works taking part in the competition will be judged by the Competition Committees, which payment their special attention to:

– following the old patterns and techniques characteristic of the Lublin region and its subregions (in traditional categories),

– appropriateness of the materials used,

– originality

– aesthetics and thoroughness

The competition results will be announced on April 1, 2023 at the Lublin Village Museum during a special award ceremony, both traditional and ritual. The competition results will be presented on TVP3 Lublin together with the relation from the museum’s event.
