EASTER FESTIVAL
13-14 April 2019

The Easter Festival takes place in the Lublin Open-Air Village Museum from 13th to 14th April 2019. The event presents Easter traditions of the Lublin region.

 

The programme of the first day of this year’s Festival includes e.g. handicraft workshops during which the participants will present eggs decorating techniques including Batik and scratch as well as the history of Easter eggs decorating, the natural ways of dyeing eggs and the designs which are typical for the Lublin region. On the same day, in the historic church relocated from the village of Matczyn, Stella Maris choir will give the Passion songs concert.

 

On the second day of the Festival, the market square of the Museum’s town will host a food and handicrafts fair. Many craftsmen from the Lubelskie Voivodeship, who will participate in the fair, will reveal several secrets of preparing Easter decorations or food. The Easter Fair is an opportunity to buy folk handicrafts, as well as dishes and products that traditionally appear on Easter tables. On the same day, the visitors are invited to witness the process of the Easter palm production and to attend the lecture entitled The Health Benefits of Eggs, The Healthy Easter Table combined with a tasting. Additional attractions include e.g. horse-drawn carriage rides, a play area for children and a themed photo booth frame. The results of The Voivodeship’s Easter Palm and Egg Contest, organised by the Marshal Office of the Lubelskie Voivodeship and Voivodeship of Culture Centre in Lublin are announced at 12 p.m. near the manor from Żyrzyn. The works taking part in the contest are to be exhibited in the living quarter from Brus Stary.

 

We also warmly invite you to participate in the solemn Holy Mass with the blessing of palms which takes place on 14th April at 2 p.m. in the church from Matczyn.
